October 2024 Marvel Cinematic horrorverse By Luis Barba

Marvel has always been my favorite franchise since I was a young child. There are many baby pictures of me in my Spider-Man jammies with my Hulk plushie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a media franchise comprising over 50 movies and television series. This can be overwhelming to immerse yourself in but I want to recommend some of the more spooky titles for this Halloween season!

Blade Trilogy

The Blade Trilogy consists of Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), and Blade: Trinity (2004). Blade (played by Wesley Snipes) is a half-vampire, half-mortal man who becomes a protector of the mortal race while slaying evil vampires. After nearly 20 years, Blade made his cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) and has the upcoming Blade (2025) movie which will be played by Mahershala Ali. These films are a bloodbath with bloodthirsty vampires which makes them perfect for the spooky season!

The New Mutants

The New Mutants (2020) is not a fan favorite film but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. The film has a star-studded cast featuring Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, and Charlie Heaton. Five teenage mutants undergo treatments at a secret institution that will cure them of their powers. Their memories horrifyingly turn into realities as they start to question why they're being held and who's trying to destroy them. This film has a lot of scares which makes it a fun watch!

Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along (2024) is a new series full of magic and witches. This show has iconic ladies in the cast such as Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Patti Lupone, and Debra Jo Rupp. The show recently aired with a two-episode premiere and will release an episode every Wednesday! It follows Agatha (played by Kathryn Hahn) as she forms a coven to walk the Witch’s Road to regain her powers that were siphoned away from the Scarlet Witch.

Werewolf By Night

Werewolf By Night (2022) is a special presentation inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s. The special follows a lycanthrope (played by Gael García Bernal) who uses his curse to fight against evil. Attendees of the Bloodstone Temple are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic that ultimately brings them face to face with a dangerous monster and the werewolf by night!

Overall, there are many fun and spooky marvel movies and shows to delve into this Halloween season!
