Healthy Lung Month

Aside from being the month that every child and adult child looks forward to (because of the sweets), the month of October is also recognized as Healthy Lung Month. Throughout the month you will be able to learn more about how you can take better care of your lungs and what you can do to be an advocate for lung awareness. The main goal is to inform the community how important it is to give your lungs the proper care and attention they rightly deserve. As we all know, there are plenty of harmful lung diseases and bacteria that can cause serious damage if we neglect them for too long, so it’s always useful to learn what we can do to have healthy lungs.

Of course, we want to protect our lungs because they help with the distribution of oxygen throughout our entire body, they allow us to breathe in amazing aromas, and overall, they are another vital part of the body that helps us stay alive. It's not that common, at least not for me, to think about the work that our lungs do to function on a regular basis and if I began to give an in-depth description, we would be here for a while...

As we continue to fight this worldwide pandemic, our lungs must be equipped to combat any new viruses or infectious diseases. How can we do this? Well, I’m glad you asked. There are various changes that one can make to maintain healthy lungs. For instance, a popular method that you have most likely heard of is exercising! By doing this, it will increase the blood flow to your lungs, and they will be much stronger. Eating food that is rich in antioxidants will make a huge difference as well. But everyone needs time to get used to, so if what I mentioned above isn't something that appeals to you, then you might want to try one of the three ways (listed below) that we can all observe Healthy Lung Month. Always keep in mind that taking care of your body is important and it shouldn't be left at the bottom of our To-Do List. If you have trouble doing it for yourself then consider doing it for the ones that love you.

Ways You Can Observe Healthy Lung Month:

1. Getting a check-up if you are feeling uneasy and find it difficult to breathe like you normally would, can definitely be helpful!

2. Reducing tobacco use, which is widely known to damage the lungs.

3. This may or may not sound exciting but cleaning your house would be a great way to get rid of dust that has accumulated.
